I live in southern Manitoba and the only map card that shows any of the lakes I fish is Freedom Maps Topo Series Canada Eastern Region. My problem is that Freedom Maps comes on a regular SD card and the Elite 5 has a micro SD slot. Can the info from my Freedom Maps SD card get put on to a micro SD card? Is there a SD to micro SD adapter? What are my options?

Hello Mark,

The maps are locked to the original card and I dont think will work if you transfer data to another card. It is worth a try, unfortunately we don't have access to those map for they are no longer made.

At this time there are no other options for your use other than the Navionics Hotmap lake mapping. Are you sure your area is not covered under the lake mapping? What lakes to you fish?

Cheers

Thanks for the quick response GPS City. I have checked out the Navionics Hotmap canada chip on-line. It looks like there are only two Manitoba lake listed, Lake of the Woods and Martins. I do most of my fishing in Nopiming Provincial Park and the Red River. I fish Bird Lake, Bird River, Tooth Lake, Flanders Lake and Booster Lake to name a few. Im not too concerned with maps showing lake depths as long as the lake outline is there. I don't want to be marking waypoints on a blank screen. Does the Hotmap Canada chip show these Lake outlines?

Hello Mark,

Sorry but after looking at all the versions of Hotmaps it looks like your areas are not covered. I would suggest a Garmin GPSMap 421S for your area because Garmin has Canada wide Topo maps that are still in production.

Another option would to see if you can find Lowrance Map Create Topo Canada. It will allow you to program your own cards. Unfortunately it is discontinued also so you will have to check auction sites like ebay. Sorry we could not be much help. You may want to contact Lowrance also just incase they have an special option for you.

Cheers

Im waiting for a call back from lowrance to see if they can put the Freedom Maps info on a micro SD card for me. Have all the new lowrance units gone to the micro SD card slots? Does the HDS 5 have a regular sized SD card slot that the Freedom Maps card will fit into?

Hello Mark,

The HDS-5m does have the regular size SD card. I hope that Lowrance can help you with the mapping.

Cheers

As long as the Freedom Maps are in SD format, the HDS-5 Baja will be able to read them.
