Do the Garmin Inland Lakes Ontario maps include greater detail for the French River main channel east of Hwy 69 including Dry Pine Bay, around 18 Mile Island, etc. than the equivalent Navionics Gold map? I have been shown a demo of the Navionics Gold map on a Lowrance unit and it was not very good. I don't expect depth info but an accurate shoreline map is a must. Is there a way to see the detail for myself before I make a purchase?
Thanks!

There is no way to see the detail from your location. The map will cover the French river but only the shore outline. There will be no depth information. I am sure the Garmin map will be similar if not the same as the Navionics map.

Thanks for the quick reply. The shore outline from Navionics looked very geometric and imprecise. Is there a Garmin Topo map of this area and/or would the Birdseye Satellite Imagery Card on a Garmin handheld provide better shore outline detail? I am more concerned about shoreline detail and accuracy than water depth.

The shoreline detail between inland lakes and topo look to be about the same for the french river. The shores did not look too jagged. The topo maps seem to have a bit more information. I saw some Rapids marked on it that were not marked on inland lakes.

I also tried the Backroads Ontario map for that area and it contained better information than the Garmin Topo maps. I would suggest it as the best option.

I do not have Birdseye right now but you would be better off with the Garmin Topo or Backroads map. Those maps will have searchable points and a lot more information. Birdseye is a good software to supplement the Garmin or Backroads maps. I would not use it as the only map.

Thanks for your advice! Do you offer a bundle that includes Backroads Ontario with a Garmin Oregon 450?
