Is the LSS-2 compatible with the HDS 10 Insight? Will the LSS-2 respond the same to the Insight as to the Gen 2 models? What would be the difference in performance? What is the difference between the LSS-1 and the LSS-2?

Yes, the HDS Gen1 series is compatible with the LSS-2 system.

Gen 2 HDS has a faster processor and has the ability to display structure map (Structure Scan overlaid on the GPS screen). The broadband sounder and all other features are the same as Gen 1.

LSS-2 runs on one frequency only (455KHz). The LSS-1 had 455 and 800 KHz to choose from.

It has a larger transducer (increased from 200mm long to 300mm long).
The larger transducer has larger elements which give it the ability to to scan a bit wider (LSS-1 max width 80m, LSS-2 max width 100m).

The larger elements in the LSS-2 have also allowed the unit to give better definition / clearer pictures than the LSS-1.
