I asume that the Eagle 642C iGPS is a Lowrance product, but I dont know the model number for the Lowrance product.
I bought a NDC-4 NMEA 0183 Adapter Cable, with 3 wires. The Eagle manual (publ. 988-0152-161, page 14)tells that the plotter both have a NMEA input and output. I tested the GPS antenna in connection with a VHF radio, that works fine, but I can't get the GPS antenna to work with the plotter.
I connected the GPS antenna (Evermore SA320/ RS232- bare wires) to the orange and shield.
I have configured the communication port( manual page 68-69) for input 4800Baud. Which I have configured the plotter I can see that the internal GPS antenna is switched off.
When I connect an external GPS antenna to the black/screen and orange wire, the plotter does not recieve NMEA data. When I look at the sattelite screen at the plotter, it tells that the unit waits for serial data.

So my question is: Can you help me how I can connect an external NMEA/ RS232 GPS antenna to the plotter? That would be great! /Martin

Did you cut off the resistors on the cable? If so you may want to solder them back in or if not try cutting them off. It could be a voltage issue on the serial line. Have you tried switching the data lines to make sure you have the correct port/wiring? I assume all grounds are properly tied together.

It would be best for you to contact Eagle and Evermore direct for assistance. We do not have access to those products to properly assist you.
