How to connect the NMEA 0183 to PC?

I wish to connect my PC to the NMEA 0183 port on my Lowrance Elite GPS. How can this be done?

Hello Larry,

You will need to properly wire a DB9 connector onto the Lowrance NMEA cable. Then the db9 will plug into a serial port on the PC or a serial to USB adapter.

The standard RS-232 connector is a 9 pin plug -
Serial Port Connections
Pin Signal Connect To
2 Rx Data <– NMEA Out Data
3 Tx Data –> NMEA In Data
5 Signal ground NMEA In/Out Common

The wiring list in reply 2 is all you need to wire it up. I do not have a drawn our wiring diagram to pass onto you.
