Original question asked on Jan 18, 2013, 1:56pm
How can I install the XGPS150A on my Hewlett-Packard iPAQ 2415 PDA. It works great in my iPAD2, but it is too big to have in my airplane. I would like to use it with my Anywhere Map installed in my PDA.

You will slide the switch to the other position on the XGPS. I am unsure the process on your iPAQ 2415 because I do not have access to a device with that OS. In short what you will do is go into the bluetooth settings and pair it with the XGPS. Use a SPP protocol in the Windows BT settings. A new serial (comm) port will be created on your device. You then go into the settings of your mapping software on the iPAQ 2415 and connect to the newly created serial port. I hope that helps

Thank you for the information. I tried to pair the XGPS but I need to a passkey in order to pair. Were can I find the passkey needed. When you say a SPP protocol does that mean a Serial Port?

SPP = Serial Port Protocol
The Passkey will most likely be 0000 or 1234. Those are the defaults for most devices

I have tried more then ten times to add a new pairing and after using 0000 or 1234 as the passkey I get a message "Authentication failed".
What I have done is the following:
In bluetooth services I click>serial port>enable service>Authorization required>Authentication required>tap OK.
Then I go to Bluetooth Manager>Tools>Paired devices>Add>devices>XGPS150-xxxxxx>Passkey>Ok.
After all these steps I get the message "authentication failed"

Is the switch on the XGPS in the correct position?

Do you have problems pairing your PDA with other bluetooth devices?

You will want to contact Dual directly for help pairing the device with your windows mobile PDA. I am unsure why it is not completing the last step other than the switch on the XGPS is in the wrong position.
