Will there be support for the Zumo 550 when discontinued?

I've travelled all of Canada, the US and all Central American countries with the 550. After 3 years and multiple use and abuse in weather randing from -10 to sweltering humidity of monsoon rains and volcanic ash... my 550's touch screen is no longer responsive.
I compared the 550 to the 650 and cannot see the advantage other than non navigation critical doodads...
Did I miss something and if I get another 550 will it be serviceable in 5 years since the model has been discontinued by Garmin?

The Zumo 550 will be supported after it is discontinued. We cant comment on how long afterwards because that will be dependent on Garmin. If they keep the technology the same I am sure it will be for a few years but if technology changes in things like the map then it could only be a couple.

I always suggest get the newer unit because you are less likely to run into issues with future compatibility.

Have you tried calibrating your touch screen in the zumo 550? Sometimes dirt gets in the corners that may cause undesired operation.

You can also contact Garmin for assistance getting the zumo550 operational before you move into a new unit or another zumo 550. You can contact Garmin via phone for quick service @ 1-800-800-1020
