looking at Nuvi 550 and Zumo 220 for my bike. Can I get map upgrades for the Nuvi? Or lifetime maps? And the Nuvi can be wired to the bike also, right?

Also, can both these models download routes and the like from Mapsource on your home computer? The features seem very similar so why should I pay more for Zumo?

ToadRide - Yes the nuvi 550 can have the maps updated, either the Onetime or Lifetime updates. There is a barewire wiring harness available for the nuvi 550 as well.

Doug - Yes both of these units can import and export data to Mapsource or Basecamp.
The zumo 220 comes with all the necessary accessories for motorcycle use, as well as bluetooth.

The Zumo 220 seems over priced to me compared to the Nuvi 550. Zumo only has bluetooth enabled. As for accessories, those you can easily get separately from RAM mounts, and RAM mounts are way better than Garmin mounts any way. And, the price of RAM mounts will not be so much to make up the difference between the Zumo 220 and Nuvi 550.

Garmin sells the zumo 220 with RAM mounts. For motorcycle use I recommend a zumo 660. Even though it is more money you will get what you paid for. It is a far superior device for motorcycle use.
