The same words "brigth and sun-readable" are used to describe the exact same sized screen on the nuvi 1390lmt. Are they the same screen with the same level of sun-readability or is the 660's screen tweeked for a higher level of sun-readability.Also compare the nuvi 37xx's glass "bright, glare prone but less bleedable" screen on the same sun-readable scale. thanks

Hi Chip,
The descriptions of the two screens are:
QVGA = Quarter Video Graphics Array = 320x240
WQVGA = Wide Quarter Video Graphics = Same height as QVGA but wider (384x240)
So yes, they will have essentially the same sunlight readability and brightness, the pixels are just slightly different.
Thanks!

The 660 is not that readable in bright sunlight. Unfortunately Garmin hasn't yet made a side screen for the unit that would extend shadow onto the screen and make for a more readable display. I made one myself from the black vinyl cover of a school type book, and attach it with velcro tabs around the edge of the 660. It works great. I found without the side screen in bright sunlight the unit is only marginally readable, and that's with the display set to the highest brightness of "100"
