I'm considering to mount this item on my Harley Softail,( left handle.)Because of wires, it is difficult to use the proper clamp unit! If u could supply a clamp unit with a curved stem, that would solve the problem?? I'm thinking of using a u-bolt that would fit the 1 inch bars. I need to know the size (diameter) of the base, to determine if the holes drilled for the u-bolt would be sufficient to secure the adaptor sufficiently? Is there enough space around the stem at the base to accept the nuts for the u-bolt? Would it be strong enough? Any advise from u would be appreciated or other items u might suggest. e-mail address: sksenych@yahoo.com

Hello Sy,
I would not modify that mount to work with your Harley because it is not secure. The unit will just pop off the ball when you hit a bump hard or accidentally bump it. The best bet is to browse our RAM Mount selection. We have many ways to mount safely to a motorcycle with these lifetime guarented mounts. What Nuvi do you have? If you go to that Nuvi's product page on our site you will see an "Accessory Tab" Click on this for Compatible mounts. If you have more questions feel free to call us at 1-800-866-GPS-CITY
