Having just added the XM option to my 2730, I've grown tired of pulling my 2730 from its cradle every time I walk away from the bike. I can route the wiring for the XM antenna in a way I'm not worried with it. But I'll buy this if it truly locks the GPS in such a way that thieves can't walk away with it. Thank you.

Hello Chris,

Being plastic no it is not going to stop a determined thief. Its more for securing it to the bike so it cant rattle loose. If you leave the bike out of sight take the GPS off. Even if you get a really good locking mount it wont be 100% theft proof.

Maybe I formed my question wrong then. I understand it won't stop a determined thief. But most thefts are of convenience. I guess what I'm asking is if it actually locks the GPS into the cradle. I have a RAM Mount now and it works fine, but it doesn't lock the GPS to the cradle. Thank you.

Hello Chris,

You need a special tool to get the unit off without breaking the mount. However on the handlebars is convenient to steal because it is plastic it can easily be broken out of the mount. I suggest if the bike is out of sight take the unit off and with you.

Cheers
