Where the cable meets the mount - is that fixed or can it be unplugged?

It is fixed and can not be unplugged.

In the time since the last question, any change in the design or is the cable still fixed? Reason for follow-up is a desire to alternate the Montana between motorcycles. If not wanting to undo any hardwiring, we'd have to buy a seperate mount for each bike, correct?

Unless you put a quick disconnect on the cable you will need a mount for each bike. The problem was fixed with the security screw that I am aware of
