I have a modle 18, would updating to an 18x be a big improvment.
Im trying to get the 18 to connect faster than 19K baud, hoping this would help out the accuracy. I am using it with "Farmer gps" softare.

The Garmin 18X has better satellite reception. The 18X USB does not use RS232 so the baud can not be adjusted. However if you are using a program that creates a virtual serial port on a computer. That software should be able to fake the higher serial speeds for software on the computer.

If you get the serial (RS232) version of the antenna it will come default 4800 baud but can be adjusted to 19.2K or higher using the software SNSRXCFG from Garmins site.

The 18x-5Hz default baud rate is 19.2k.
