To whom it may concern:

Sir/Ma’am,
I recently purchased a Garmin Montana 650. I’ve upgraded from a Garmin Nuvi 205. I recently started Geocaching, and have also been into off-roading/4-Wheeling for several years. I’ve found the unit… “mostly” easy to use, but I feel as though I’ve not been able to release it’s full potential. I was also sorely disappointed to find it lacked City Navigator, but I suppose that is on myself for not doing the proper research. My questions are a few, and also concern MapSource as well as BaseCamp. I’ve already upgraded to 3.60 firmware.

1. How do I find out what all maps are currently loaded on to my Montana 650?

2. How do I removed maps that are currently loaded, and “start from scratch” so to speak?

3. My 3D button continually brings up a message reading, “Maps do not contain sufficient elevation information to display 3D view.” How do I fix this?

4. Will both 100K and 24K maps support 3D view?

5. Is 100K, or 24K more detailed?

6. Which City Navigator map product do I need to allow my Montana 650 to completely replace my Nuvi 205?

7. When I’m driving down the highway, the blue arrow appears to be off by about ½ an inch at the closest zoom level, but basically parallel

Here is a link to the manual.

http://www.gpscity.com/pdfs/manuals/MONT600-EN-MANUAL.pdf

1. Please refer to page 38
http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-montana-600-videos.html?youtube=nWewFMsuDpY

2. When you load a new map the previous one is deleted. That is the recommended way. You can also delete the gpsmapsupp.img file from internal memory. Be careful when altering files in the unit.

3. You need to purchase mapping that contains 3D information.

4. The current version of Topo 100k and 24k will do 3D.

5. 24K is more detailed

6. You need City Navigator North America NT.

7. You will not be right on the road because there are errors in the maps and GPS position.
