No, the Garmin Oregon 450 uses the Garmin Bluecharts G2 or G2 vision cards. For the Florida area you would need either:

The "specs" page for this Garmin Oregon 450 says it is not compatible with the G2 Vision cards.

Since it can load at least the ordinary G2 cards, I assume it can be used for marine navigation. Is this a good application for the Oregon 450 or are there models with superior features. I have a small relatively open boat which I would hate to leave a GPS in unattended - nicer to take a hand-held unit with me when I go ashore. Thoughts? I was looking at the Garmin 421, Garmin 521 and the Lowrance Elite 5 but this is another possibility (albeit without sonar).

The Oregon 450 is compatible with the Bluechart G2 marine charts.

Tom - Just confirming: the specs pages says " X - not compatible" regarding the Vision series but that it IS compatible with the non-Vision series. As Roxie's question comes from a year and a half ago, have things improved?

And any thoughts about the 450 being used as a portable chart plotter for coastal use?

That is correct the Oregon 450 is not Bluechart G2 Vision compatible.
The Oregon 450 would not be considered as a replacement for a chart plotter as it does not have all the marine features but is a good hand held outdoor GPS capable of utilizing marine charts.
