I bought the Gar GPSMAP 76CSx for the mapping feature. I have a good friend who has the same unit and recommended it. I've never been able to get the topo map to work properly in spite of many reloading tries. I downloaded the topo map disk and the trip and waypoint manager. Map loads with poor detail and waypoint manager doesn't work at all. I tried calling GPS CITY a couple times after I first bought the unit with no reponse. I gave up. I have Windows 7 operating system on my computer. Could that be the problem? I'd really like to be able to use the map feature as it works beautifully for my friend's unit on his computer. I would greatly appreciate if you could explain how to get the topo map and Trip and Waypoint Manager to work. Please send a response to my email address below. Thanks.

The Garmin MapSource Trip and Waypoint Manager is not compatible with Windows 7.

A program called BaseCamp should have came with the Topo Canada disk download if it was from Garmin.
There should also be a program called Map Install on disk.
Both programs should have installed with the installation of Topo Canada.
If not, they can be downloaded free from Garmin.

BaseCamp: www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435

Map Install: www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3291

Use the Map Install program to load the maps to the microSD card in the GPSMAP 76CSx.
Use BaseCamp to manage the map data (waypoints, tracks, and routes).

You may also want to call Garmin Support for assistance.
