Device loses the correct elevation when shutting down. Why.

Run the Garmin WebUpdater to install or reinstall the latest software for your device.
Be sure to select the PC or Mac version.

Try setting up the elevation.
From the main menu, select SET UP > ALTIMETER > CALIBRATE. The main menu gives you access to setup screens including waypoints,
