Montana w/ City Navigator not speaking the proper street names?

I just got my Montana 600 and loaded City Navigator NA maps. I have external speakers connected so I get the voice commands. When navigating to a location, the voice and display often say/display "ramp" instead of the proper street name. Like "...turn right at Ramp...". These are city streets, not freeway ramps. It also mis-names major highways with meaningless numbers. On the map, the correct street name or highway is clearly shown. What's up with City Navigator??

That is an interesting issue. It would be best to contact Garmin for assistance with this issue. Before calling them be sure to make sure everything is up to date. You can use Garmin Webupdater to update the unit.

After trying a few different things this problem appears to be associated with the Backroad Mapbook topo maps for Alberta. This map was enabled in the background as well as the City Navigator map. When I disable the BM topo, City Navigator seems to work correctly (so far). If I just enable the BM, the directions are frequently messed up and it has a real problem with highway interchanges. I will contact Backroads.
