Most of my gps usage will be in the backcountry, would you recommend the topo maps(how good or accurate are they) or would you just recommend the regular waypoint and compass use on your gps? will the topo maps be of great help to me deep in the backcountry?thanks!

The maps built into the Oregon 450T are much older than you can get buying the maps separately on DVD. The ones on DVD will have more information. Both maps contain info from NTS topo maps. The accuracy will Range from a couple meters to about 75 meters in some areas by my experience. Usually if a map spot if off in one area all are off by the same bearing and distance. You will definitely get good use out of them even if they are a few meters off in your area.
