I have an Etrex Legend Cx and am inquiring whether the Topo Canada and the Marine charts will be still compatible with the GPSMAP 78s. Also, I have used the Etrex for driving with Topo, can both units function on the City Navigator data that I am planning on buying. Will the increased sensitivity of this newer unit work on the dashboard with a truck camper overhang? I'm led to believe that sufficient satellite readings can occur at the low angle available. Thank you.

I can not guarantee you will be able to track anymore satellites because your view of the sky is obstructed. The ones it can see will have better signal strength. You can get add an external GPS antenna to the GPSMap 78S. You can put the antenna above the overhang to get the satellite reception you need for a good position.

The Garmin Topo maps will be transferable but the Marine maps may not be. If you purchased them from us Preloaded on a micro SD card then they will work. If you purchased the Marine maps on DVD they will be locked to the Legend and not work on the new unit.
