On my last ride on ATV my Montana 600 was automatically rebooting several times. I read on another forum that this may be the battery shaking enough to not make contact and then reconecting. It reboots imediately. Have you heard of this problem, does Garmin have a fix for it? Different battery etc.?

I have not heard of this problem on the Montana but other devices have had a similar issue. Are you using AA batteries or the included lithium battery? Do you have external power attached?

I tossed one around the office and it did not reset. I checked the battery compartment and both types of batteries sit very tight.

You will want to contact Garmin also to explain your experience to see if they know of anything. 1-800-800-1020

I contacted Garmin. Their solution was to stuff something in with the battery in the compartment to secure it better. Haha. I was not too happy with their solution for a 4 month old unit and so they told me i should send it to a repair depot. Apparantly there is a new one in Canada. I guess i will trouble shoot on my own with firmware and different type batteries and see where i end up.

What i have come up with is the Lithium battery does have some play in the battery compartment. I suspect this to be the the problem because when i run 3 AA batteries the unit is fine. The lithium battery is losing its contact within the battery compartment and causing a reboot. I will take garmins advise and stuff something in there with the battery.
