I currently have a MAP76CSx and like it alot but I cracked the screen and want to replace it. I like the oregon 300 and the Dakota 20 but I am worried it will not be as good as the 76CSx - can you delete waypoints manually on the 20 and 300? are they all WAAS enabled? I need the most accurate unit since I primarily use if to GPS boundaries and load them in to other mapsbases for forestry work. The 60CSx and 76Csx seem very simular what would make one of them better than the other? I really appreciate the insight you provide here and just want to make sure I get the best unit that I can.

Hello Kori,

The Oregon will be very close to your 76CSx with some great advancements. The 76CSX has slightly better GPS reception but most users wont notice any difference. The Oregon can do satellite maps, custom maps, and the new Topo V4 can be viewed in 3D! It also has wireless capabilities and the touch screen makes using the unit very easy. You can use it in combination with a Garmin heart rate sensor for fitness training and more.

Cheers
Jordan

any big differences between the dakota 20 and the oregon 300? what about screen quality - are they both the same? a few people in the reviews said the scren was hard to see in bright light, what do you think about that? I hate to buy something when a new "version" correcting the problems comes out a bit later - any insight on that? thanks again for the reply.

Hello Kori,

I find that the 60csx and 76csx are the best in direct sunlight. The Oregon 300 is good in the sun but the larger screen tends to reflect a lot more light back into your eyes. The Oregon 450 which is the replacement for the Oregon 300 is supposed to have a better screen for in the sun. I have not tested the Oregon 450 in direct sunlight yet but I will try to soon. If you compare the Oregon to the GPSMap 60csx the reviews will always be better for the 60csx. However when I the Oregon series I find no problems reading the screen in direct sunlight. You just have to angle to unit so you dont get so much reflection from the sun. I would suggest the Oregon 450 at this time because it has a updated 3 axis compass and faster USB data transfer.

Cheers
Jordan
