I've owned a Spot for 1 1/2 years of kayak and hiking trips and never (thank god) needed the help or sos functions. However, I always thought it to be unfortunate that these functions are only all or nothing. Will the PN-60W be able to embed an SOS with "I've a sprained ankle but with 4 days supplies" or "my climbing partner fell and is only partially conscious". A simple detail could affect the type and urgency of aid needed. This could bridge the wide gap between spot and satphones in size, price, and function.

Hello AJK,

Using the PN-60 and the Delorme SPOT module you will be able to send text messages to the SPOT web server. When it comes to immediate life threatening service you would always use the 911 button and the others for non-life threatening emergencies. You could use the text messages so your friends know what type of help you need. Safe travels.

Cheers
Jordan
