Can you tell me the best format to receive TOPS 24K Northeast map for my gps? dvd, sd card or down load ? Also does this version have spoken directions (for routable roads) for my gps unit?

I do not recommend the downloads because you will not have a back up. When a DVD is available I recommend that option in regards to Topo mapping because you will have a backup copy and you can load more than one personal unit.

The GPSMap 62STC can not do voice directions. Most handhelds will only make beeping noises (except the Garmin Montana). Topo software is not intended for street data but it will have them but not address routable.
