I just received my new 650 and was looking at the maps. I did not order a 650T yet there are several maps preloaded when I choose select Map. What are these? Worldwide DEM, Birdseye select for Kompass and France, Switzerland, Austria there are about 5 of them. Also a USGS Quads??? What is Digital Globe for? Are these just for demo? Is there a way to get rid of them especially if they are eating up valuable memory. Please help.

There should only be a world basemap and DEM map. There may be a demo birdseye but not all the other maps. Where did you buy the GPS? What is the part number of the unit you purchased? It sounds used to me.

You can delete the maps from the internal memory by locating the Garmin folder and deleting the appropriate IMG files. I suggest you phone Garmin if you need assistance doing that.

I bought this unit from GPS City 1 week ago. It looked totally new out of the box. All components were in plastic. No prior tracks, routes or waypoints. How do you find the part number?

Ok, that is odd we do not sell used units. We will check our inventory to see if there are any issues with the units we have. Please feel free to contact us for a replacement.

I just check our inventory and they all have those maps. I think Garmin is now loading some small demo areas. There is no need to return the unit. I apologize we did not know that at first.

OK your right. I just checked with Garmin Tech Support. He said that they are being loaded at the factory and that I could delete all those Birds eye images via Base Camp if I choose. The amount of internal memory being used is minimal. Guess they're trying to showcase that product. Thanks!!!
