I can download from geocaching.com via gpx but it only goes to maps and waypoints. How can I download these into the geocaching site in the unit so I can read what has been written down about the cache?

All you need to do is copy the GPX file to the GPX folder in the Garmin Montana.

I import from geocaching.com gpx file and the export to my Montana using the Garmin Base Camp app. Only downloads to waypoints and map. What is the GPX folder?

When you plug your GPS into the computer it will act as another harddrive. You can navigate to that drive and then locate the folder called GPX. It should be in the Garmin folder. Drag and drop your GPX file there.

Another option is get GSAK, Geocaching Swiss Army Knife. You can load the caches into it from Geocahing.com via download GPX file or as a pocket query into GSAK. Select the the correct GPS unit in GPS setup. It will download all caches at one time. THis is the easiest way to get caches into the GPS unit
