Are Canadian maps preloaded in the GPS unit?

i have opportunity to get a gpsmap 62s by garmin, my question is do i need to get anything for it if i live in canada, or are canada maps and topography preloaded?

You will need to buy all accessories separate. The accessories you need will be based on your use and preference. Here is a link to the accessory page so you can buy the parts you will need for the unit for your use.

No maps are preloaded in the GPSMap 62S. There is a model that comes preloaded with Canada (62st) but it is not recommended because you can get newer maps on DVD and the DVD can be used on future units.

i have found a number of different sd cards for this gpsmap62s that are of interst to me, can they be loaded on the gps at the same time? like i found one sd with top, and one that is british columbia backroads, i want to know if it means i have to swap cards or not. thx for your time, Ted

Ted the backroads maps are great. You will need to keep the SD card in the unit while you are using the maps. The maps will not load from the SD card to internal memory. To put maps on internal memory your will need the DVD versions of the maps. You can load maps from the DVD to the internal memory and then use a pre-programed SD card in the memory slot. Do not send mapping from a DVD to a card preloaded by a manufacturer. (it can erase the map)

tHX FOR YOUR REPLY, pls forgive me tryin to understand. if i get the gpsmap62s and a dvd version of the backroad, i can load it on the gps, than i can get a sd card with garmin topo canada northwest, or download a version of the same into the gps as well?

The unit has internal memory and a external memory slot for maps. You can load the DVD on the internal memory and also put a pre-programmed chip at the same time. If you have two or maps for the same area in the unit you will need to turn one off to see the other.

If you get the DVD version of both softwares you can load both into the internal memory at the same time
