I just got a new GPS a Oregon 450T, When first used it the Topo Lines were showing up. But now no Lines no and no roads, streets, or name when using the Map Icon. When using 3D Icon Roads, streets, are visable but no names. What happened or what did I do? I restored to default factory settings under Setup Icon but no better. I have had it for one week, Manual is about no help....Arrgggh

Hello David,

Sounds like the maps got turned off in your unit. Please try checking the map settings to see if they need to be turned on again. Just go into your "Setup" menu. Then "Maps" menu. In here select the "Map Information" Option. Make sure your detailed maps are enabled. If you see no detailed maps then you could of deleted the preloaded maps on accident. If that is the case please contact Garmin @ 1-800-800-1020

Also check you Advanced Map Setup in the Mapping setup screen. The zoom levels could be set incorrectly.

Cheers

Thankyou Jordan for your prompt response and help! In the setup section, under map information the only map I show is the topo US 100K and it is enabled. No nothing happened that I am aware of before the information was lost. the only thing that I see on the map screen is the shaded relief, It shows a (utility power company line), Water branches that is it. If I Zoom out far enough then I can see a green dot showing a town, that's it. I updated firm ware version after loss of contour lines, was hoping for a glitch that would be corrected by updating. Note I set back to default settings as it was out of box, same thing. Note: while in the "3D view" (So while in 3D view I can see the roads, highways but there are no labels (names). When you refer to detailed map, is there something other than topo US 100k in the setup / map info, select map ?? If so maybe something disappeared. I did not purchase the road navigation North America SD Thanx, David

Hello David,

You should have a few maps listed on the Map Info Screen. You should have the 100k Topo map, and the Basemap layer. If you can see the maps in 3D but not in 2D there may be another glitch in your GPS unit.

In the mean time try resetting your unit to factory defaults to see if it is a setting hidden deep in one of the menus. SetUp->Reset Back up all user GPS data first.

Cheers

Hey, great news! Had to wait a while to talk to a tech support, but they had me do a MASTER reset. That is probably what you were telling me to do Jordan. They had me power down the unit, and then while pressing in the upper left corner of the screen power it up. It will then inform you that you will loose all user data, do you want to continue. Select Yes and all goes back, my contour lines and roads, labels, etc. came back. Like you said Jordan you would want to back up your user data. The Tech. guy said that your maps should stay intact. But I would add when in doubt back it up. Thanx for all your help, you have a great site and service here! David
