Garmin’s map activation policys seem excessively restrictive, my costly road, topo, and marine maps are variously permanently registered to a stolen, a sold, a semi-obsolete (60C ), and current unit. I understand Delorme allows consolidation? Cheap yearly subscription option? I'm also vague as to what map sets ( road, topo, etc) are included in the package ?

Hello Sam,

We have used both products and Garmin is still the leader and does a much better job on the units and mapping than Delorme. The Garmin unlock process is very easy. Most people have difficulties because they buy the wrong software for their unit or just need more online experience. If the later is the case just give Garmin a phone call.

You wont be able to do as much with the Delorme. The only benefit to the Delorme models at this time, is in the future is its integration with the Spot satellite messenger.

The majority of people will get more use and be more satisfied with a Garmin. Since you are on the west coast of Canada the only way to go is with a Garmin because of the superior mapping compared to Delorme.

*** Please note we have not tested the Delorme PN-60 yet and we will only start to sell it if it meets our standards in both quality and functionality ***

Cheers
