I transferred my garmin training camp tracks to google earth. Now I own a basecamp mapping by garmin and would like to transfer the data back to basecamp. The original tracks from garmin training center have been deleted. Too much data I guess for the garmin training center. The information is there in google earth. Can it be transferred to a GPS or directly to garmin basecamp?sww65

You will need to save you data as a KML/KMZ which Google outputs. Then you will need to use a free program like GPSBabel (or a paid one) to convert the KMZ to a GPX file which is supported by Garmin and other manufacturers. Google can read GPX files but does not save in that format in the free version.

thanks, I went to the GPS Babel web site. The information was not easy to understand on how to transfer from kml to GPX. A web search brought up some other GPS data sites that might be easier to work with. Less complicated

excellent to hear. GPSBabel is a software I am familiar with because it has been around for many years. I hope the other sites work just as well for you. have fun

I decided to use GPS Babel, the transfer works but when I try to open or send the information to my Garmin oregon 450 adobe reader say this type of file is not readable or the email was corruped. It transferrd the krl to gpx but adobe reader will not open it. I tried disabling norton to see what that would do. Still the same adobe reader will not open the file.

You may have a bad file association for the files in your computer. Adobe reader should not try to open the file. That is why you are getting errors.

What you want to do is open Garmin Basecamp and go to the File tab. Select Import. Then import the GPX file GPSBabel created. You should then see your data in Basecamp. Now you can select the data send it to your GPS.

That did the trick. I closed adobe reader x10. And opened basecamp and the rest is history. It worked like a charm in kml. Thanks a whole bunch.

Garmin POI loader can be used to import data to the device.
