Try plugging the unit into your computer and performing a update using Garmin WebUpdater. It is a free download from Garmins site. Also check screen for any damage.

If the update does not work your unit may be defective. It is always best to verify the issue by calling Garmin at 1-800-800-1020. They will know if it is a common issue or not.

If the screen does not work it is most likely under warranty. Garmin offers a one year warranty. We offer extended warranties at the time of purchase. If you have an extended warranty with us please call us. We also warranty the units for Garmin during the first 30 days.

Just have the same problem. Just a little piece of rock that was locked between the case and the screen. Remove it and all was working OK.
