how detailed is the trimble mapping software in canadas north? 1:50,000 or 1:250,000? compared to mapsource? can tracks and waypoints be saved for future excursions on a computer and a new pre-travelled trip uploaded? (like mapsource files of base camp lists). if the phone is not activated with a data plan, how is the info on the unit shared? how many tracks and waypoint can be saved on the unit itself and viewed whiled travelling? i assume the Inreach App "earthmate" will not work with the windows version? what about the android version? if a data plan is purchased, does text messaging work like a normal phone? in cold climates, and a 12V adapter, can the setting be manipulated for screen intensity to stay on high?

This is a professional smart phone and it is assumed that you will own the software and maps that are needed to complete your job. You can load any software that will run on a windows phone. The number of points and tracks will be limited by the software you choose and or the internal memory left over on the unit. You should not have problems with that.

The inreach will work with the Android version but not the Windows version.

Because this is a work tool I would suggest using a ESRI software for making and verifying maps.

If it is not activated on a plan you can share data wirelessly or via a computer. It will all depend on the software you choose to load on the device.
