Can GIS shapefiles be used for the Garmin Montana?

I have detailed topographic, trail, and trail data for my college campus in GIS format (ESRI shapefiles). Is there a way to make maps from these data that I can upload into the Garmin Montana?

You will need to convert the shape files to a Garmin image file. You can do that in many ways. the easiest would be using Mapwel. The other way would be to use a GIS program to convert your data into Polish Map format then run it through CGPSMapper. I think CGPSMapper will do shape file but I found it easier to use their recommended format, Polish map format. You can find both software packages and tutorials online by using the Google search engine.
