Are there any known, consistent problems with the scroll button locking down and scrolling the screen all the way to the right on start up? No bumping or dropping prior to the start of the problem. Though I have found that proper timing with the left scroll will eventually get it over to the main screen, though it will go back to the right if given a chance. A bump to the palm of the hand sometimes resolves the problem, though that doesn't work if in the protective case. I think I have a loose connection.

I monitor the forum have not seen any common issues with the Garmin Oregon 450. I does sound like the screen is loose or a connection may be. You will want to contact Garmin for some advice getting the unit repair or replaced if the problem continues. Be sure to perform all updates before calling Garmin for that is one of the first things they will have you do.

Jordan T from your customer sales and service department wrote me back. The message said that they HAD seen this problem and that it could sometimes be solved by resetting the unit. Pressing and holding the upper/left corner of the screen during start up and choosing YES to resetting. And it worked on my unit. For now. Jordan T mentioned sending it back to Garmin but also offered to let me send it to GPSCity. But living in Japan, resetting is highly preferable if it is a permanent fix.

Thank you for sharing. That is not a known problem that I have seen. To me it sounds like a faulty touch screen, because bumping the unit should not make a difference if it was software. Reseting the unit only effects the software settings in the unit. Please let us know if the problem gets resolved.
