I am thinking about buying the Oregon 450 and I am looking at rechargeable batteries. I am looking at the Sony website and I see there are different levels of NiMH batteries available. One set claims to last 1.5 times as long as Alkaline and another sett claims to last 3 times as long. The one that lasts 3 times as long says it is a '2 cycle' battery and that it is great for 'compatible devices' such as portable dvd players.

My question is would they be 'compatible' with the Oregon 450 ?

Are there any restrictions on type of AA battery that can be used with the 450 ?

All the niMH batteries will be compatible with the Oregon 450. The difference between the batteries you are looking at is the current they can provide. I always suggest buying the best batteries available for longer battery life.
