Downloaded NW topos onto computer and then into Oregon SD card but it doesn't seem to locate them. How do I tell the machine to "look" on the SD card for the map rather than the rather useless basemap that's included?

If properly loaded it automatically turns on for you. You will have to pan the map to the area with map coverage to see the maps. You can verify the maps are being read by the GPS by going into your Map settings menu.

Main Menu -> Setup -> Map -> Map Information

Thanks. Reloaded and now finds in GPS but neither basemap nor NW topos nor Canada West SD (tried a friends to see) are visible. I have geocaches marked accurately in big green areas unbounded by roads. I have even tried restoring factory defaults. What am I missing turning on. (oh and I have no directional arrow on compass either).

no topo lines, no roads, no compass pointer. Is there a hard reset button somewhere (other than "reset factory defaults" within the menus? I have tried turning off, powering off by removing batteries and SD card, etc etc.... 20 hours of frustration for both my husband and I and we are getting close to shipping it back to you as right now it is an expensive paperweight. I am back to using my smartphone as GPS. Friend has Garmin Dakota and can't make this function either.
