Speed Averaging?

Will the software in this unit allow you to average speed over a user specified period of time, e.g. 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 60 seconds?

I had an Oregon 400c with preloaded marine charts, and this unit never had speed averaging. On a boat, that is extremely frustrating since wave action means the instantaneous speeds shown by the unit are all over the place and practically worthless. Even while hiking the averaging function would improve the utility of the device. Hopefully such a simple function as averaging will be included!

This will not do average speed the way you mentioned it.

You can do average speed with all Oregon units but you will need to review the data on your computer. Be sure to erase your old track log and start a new one. You can then send that tracklog to your computer and open it using base camp and get the average speed of the track you saved. You can save a 5 second track file or a one hour track file and get the averages.
