Does anyone have experience to use is as a handheld chartplotter on a small, wet yacht (26 foot)?
Does the Garmin Blue Chart works well on it?
Can I use other marine maps like Fugawi?

The Montana will work like a chartplotter. It will mainly lack the network capabilities that unit like the GPSMap 421S will have. It is fine for use on a smaller boat.

You can use the Montana as a sensor for Fugawi. You can use fugawi maps in the unit but you will have a lot of work to do, to make them compatible. You need to use the Garmin custom map feature. Based on the amount of time it will take and the errors that will be added to the maps when doing the custom map process, it is best to buy the Garmin Bluechart maps for your area.

Thanks for your confirmation!
I do have the Montana now and use it with a Garmin Marine map. Works excellent on my yacht.
If I use it for trekking, I can download the routes into my laptop on base map. But it seems the same does not work with the marine map. I can not see the route on base map - nor can I download the marine map from the Montana into my laptop.
Any help on this please?

With Marine maps you have to purchase the program HomePort to see the maps on the computer.
