Viewing Map while recording Track

When driving, and using Record Track - I used the "View Map" in the Tracks menu - however, this does not actually show the map I am on. I have to get out of the Tracks menu - and go into Map to see the map of my current location. Am I doing something wrong? Why can I not just go into Tracks, use the Record/Show option - and then see the map I am on?

View map is only for looking at a saved track. Once your tracks settings are proper just go back to the regular map screen through the main menu.
