I've read that the topo maps on the Montana 650T take up the entire internal memory capacity but I'm still able to load addition maps and Windows Explorer shows 3.5 GB of free space from 7 GB total memory. Please clarify how much free space exists on the internal memory of the 650T.

I do not have a unit to check but if you computer states there is 3.5GB free space in your unit then there most likely is. I would not fill up that memory. I would keep most of it empty for pictures ... I suggest loading maps to a memory card when using a preloaded unit. That will prevent you from accidentally deleting the preloaded map. Garmin has made their software so that should not happen but other programs may. Doesn't hurt to take precautions.
