Does the Oregon 450 come loaded with topographic maps of the USA? If not, what does it take to get the maps loaded - e.g., for Illinois and Indiana. How detailed are they, i.e., what's the contour interval shown?

Hello J,

The unit you are looking at does not have Topo in it but there is a version of the Oregon 450 that does. It will only have 1:100K maps for all of the USA. We recommend buying the maps on DVD for more functionality.

Would you recommend the 450T or 450 and buy the better 1:24000 scale topos for the 450? In other words, is the extra $ worth the "T" in 450T?

It is better in my opinion to buy the maps on DVD or SD card. That way you can use them in other compatible Garmin devices in the future
