Has the firmware been updated to display multiple tracks on the 62s? This function alone will decide if my buddy and I purchase this unit

With the latest update you can view multiple tracks on the unit at the same time on the map screen.

Hi,
I have an Etrex Legend that I have been using for the last 6’ish years for quading, hunting, ski-dooing, etc. I archive all of my data using mapsource. I recently bought a 62s back in February, and are having trouble viewing multiple tracks as referenced above. I put all of my old tracks on the new 62s using mapsource, and they exist in the track manager, but I cannot make them all viewable. I can only make one individual track visible at one time, by going "show on map".
Do you have any ideas? If you help me out and point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

You will need to update your unit. once you update your unit you select 'Show on Map' for all tracks you would like to see and you will be able to see all tracks

Hi, Thanks for your response.
I upgraded software on the unit to version 3.40 already as well using basecamp, and didn't make any difference. I tried changing the track colour, and every other trick I have read about. Curious enough is that when I try and import from the device is that only the tracks that have actually bveen recorded with the device get imported. The track manager shows all of the other tracks, but they don't get imported.

In Basecamp, the tracks should show up under the device. There is no importing. The tracks can be dragged and drop from the device.
You may want to contact Garmin support as they can work with you over the phone to resolve any issues. 1-800-800-1020

You can view multiple tracks on the GPSMap 62S. You have to enable each one individually. We have tested it and it works fine. Be sure to select the option 'Show on Map'. Also if you save your entire track then split it into smaller ones the current track or the one saved in its entirety may hide the others. It will lay on top of them so you can not see the smaller individually save track portions even if they are different colors.

This morning I tried again and it does not work.
Is there a special track setting?
NOTE: this is with the latest update version 3.6
can this make the difference?
I will contact Garmin again today.

I tested it yesterday and I am running 3.4. I just upgraded to the latest firmware and it still works. Can you explain what you are seeing? Also make sure that you clear the current track just in case it is hiding the individual ones underneath it. I will try to get a short video together to show how view multiple tracks. Please let us know if you figure it out.

In track manager I have: 2 tracks 30 feet apart with SHOW ON MAP activated and only 1 track shows on the map when I press VIEW ON MAP
I also e-mailed Garmin tech support this morning to let them know that the answer they gave me yesterday on this problem was totally wrong and unacceptable .

Tanks. I will keep you informed.

When you press 'View on Map' you will only see the one you selected. Once all are set to 'Show On Map', Page (or Quit) out of the Track Manager. Then use the main map screen to scroll to where both tracks are and you will see both of them on the screen.

This is the procedure that I followed for a track recorded this morning on the street in front of my house and the second one on a parallele street with 40 meters between the tracks.

Waypoints show on the map but no tracks.

BINGO
I finaly found how to view more than one track.
I followed your recommendation except that I selected:
Hide on Map
and I can see both tracks on the map.

I am serious. This is not a joke.
I had posted the question on a french forum "Sorcière Monique" and this is what one of the members recommended.
I tought It was a joke and did n ot try it.
But now I did and it works. Does not make sense but it works.

Jordan - I picked up a GPSMap 62s to replace the old Garmin 12 I've been using in the field for archaeological survey work for years. One thing The Garmin 12 does well is allow me to transfer and view the all the tracks I've created in other programs (usually MacGPS Pro) for use during my work. No such functionality with the Garmin 62s, since the tracks are broken up into their constituent segments. I've watched the video several times, following your procedure, but haven't had any success. Regardless, I don't have the time to do this for dozens or hundreds of track segments. Do you know of any way to merge numerous segments without having to enable each individually, as you show in the video? Using the join function in Garmin Basecamp is a non-starter, since it links the discrete tracks, which I don't want to do. It's frustrating that something that's so easily done with my antiquated Garmin 12 can't be accomplished with the much newer Garmin 62s - basically rendering it useless for my work. Any insights would be appreciated.

Regards,

Don

I normally suggest programs called Mapwel or CGPSMapper. They both can turn your data into a Garmin map so you can see everything on screen. Both suppliers have tutorials on their site to show you how to use the programs. Mapwel may be the easier of the two to use but comes at a higher cost because of that. I suggest trying the trial of Mapwel to see if it fits your needs.

What doesn't seem to work is if your tracks overlap. For example, let's say I have "Track A" being shown on the map and that it goes from point 1 to point 2 to point 3. Track B goes from point 2 to point 3. You might think that if you displayed Track A first (in red) and then Track B (in blue), you would see part of Track A and all of Track B laying on top. But sadly, no...you will see only Track A. No matter what you do (adding track B first or last) it will go to the back). The only way to get Track B to display is to have it not overlapping Track A.
