Tough decision to make - for only $20 more I can get a 550 with camera, or for $509 I can get the 400T with Canadian Topographic detail. But the 400T does not come with the DVD so if I want to plan trips in BaseCamp it looks to me like I might have to buy the V4 DVD anyway.

So why would I not go for the 550, which includes the camera, batteries and charger?

Sounds like a much better deal anyway.

Hi EmmBeeDee,
It seems as though you've already gone over the pros and cons of purchasing either the Oregon 400T or the Oregon 550. Our recommendation would be for the Oregon 550 and Topo Canada on DVD, as it allows you to preplan your trips and manipulate the data from your GPS. And as you put it, the price difference is so minimal, it's a great deal.
Thanks!
