Hi, I am thinking of buying this unit mostly for the purpose of hiking in the forested areas of South Ontario, which could be Provincial Parks, Community forests etc. So the main function I need is to be able to mark my car, so that later I can get directions to it (in the woods, that is no named roads). Is this what this thing does? What maps do I need to buy? MapSource Topographic Canada CD? Topographic Canada DVD with BaseCamp
? What is a BaseCamp and do I need it?

Hello Telega,

The Oregon 450 will do what you want plus more. You will need the Topo Canada with Basecamp because it has newer data. The other package is no longer available. Basecamp is the software you use on your PC or MAC to manage your data. You need it to save and backup your data. You can also use it to plan trips and download satellite maps via Birdseye.
