I am considering purchasing one of these units. I read the specification page and it stated that there are "No" preloaded maps. Am I to assume that this unit does not even have a base map installed?? I have a much cheaper Garmin that at least has a base map.

Hi Texagander,
You are correct about the base map, all of Garmin's current handheld models do include a very sparse base map, preloaded onto the unit. The 60CSx has an Americas basemap which according to Garmin contains the following data:
Standard map coverage for Canada, USA, Mexico, Central and South America.
Standard Map Coverage:
Oceans, rivers, and lakes (greater than 30 sq. miles)
Principal cities and some smaller cities and towns
Major interstates and principal highways
Political boundaries (state and international borders)
Major Airports

Plus: USA
Lakes greater than 5 square miles
A database of exits for the Federal Interstate highway system. This includes many businesses within about 1/4 mile of the exit, including: restaurants, diesel/gas, hotels/lodging, overnight RV parking, dumps, campgrounds, truckstops, medical facilities, shopping and outlet malls, ATMs, and many more attractions.

Plus: Canada
Lakes greater than 5 square miles (Southern Canada)
Lakes greater than 10 square miles (Central - Northern Canada)
