Please let me know which kind of rechargeable batteries (1700 or 2500 mAh) are recomended for Oregon 450. Thanks.

Hello Decio,

Either will work fine. Of course the higher the rating the longer the battery life.

Can this unit be used on the water if I get lost with my boat to get me back to where I launched my boat?

This unit is commonly used as a marine GPS. Yes you can use this to navigate back to where you launch the boat. You can also add marine mapping.
