Is there a way to measure distance on the map page? I know you can measure from you to the tack but can you put 2 different tacks on the map and measure inbetween them?

Hello Laner,

You can measure the distance between two points on the map by placing a route. Place a route from Waypoint A to Waypoint B. Then the distance between the points is the LEG distance. Be sure to do direct routing and not "follow the road" if the points are far apart.

Cheers

Thank you.

I did know you could do it that way, but on the older garmins there was an option on the map page to measure distance without going through the whole make a route type deal. So is there a way to do it the way the older garmins did?

Hello Laner,

Not all features will be carried over right away or at all. There is no dedicated measure feature on the Oregon series at this time. If you use a new unit with buttons like the GPSMap 62S then you will get the measure distance feature back.

Hello Laner,

It is most likely your current track. Every time you save a track you need to clear the current track data. Please let us know if that helps.

Tracks -> Current Track -> Clear current track

Cheers

Actually I have tried that. I tried clearing the track log, clicking on the track and deleting the track, re-setting the track log, uploading my tracks and routes, which it said it was empty, and i still can't get rid of it. I even tried restoring the unit to defaults. I still have the track showing up on the track manager page but when I click on it I can't click on any of the options. I don't know what else I could possibly do.

What is the track called in the menu? Also try updating the units firmware. It may be something that Garmin is aware of and fixed.

cheers

I actually got it fixed by holding the top left handed corner and turning the unit on to reset the whole thing. I will look at the firmware though. Thanks for all your help.

Ok now I have a problem uploading tracks, waypoints, and routes from my device. I was able to do this at 1 time and now i can't. I did update the firmware on this unit and for some reason it still says that there are no routes, tracks, or waypoints but it can upload all the maps I have on the unit.

Hello Laner,

What software are you using? Are you downloading or uploading? Have you selected the right collection to send to your GPS if you uploading?

I am using Mapsource Topo Roads and Recreation. I am trying to upload to that program and it will not let me and i have tracks, waypoints, and routes selected and my gps is also selected. I have looked at those things about 10 times and still I have them right and nothing will work. The only way I am able to get those items off my gps and onto the computer is by using Basecamp and then transfering them to my data card and then uploading them from my card into Mapsource. I do have a couple of different Mapsources in my drop down menu but that shouldn't have anything to do with that because it has worked before. Also after I try this several times with no luck it turns back to not letting me adjust or delete anything on the track and I have to do a master reset.

Hello Laner,

I just gave it a test with mapsource and I can get Tracks, Waypoints, and routes to transfer both ways. Please try updating your mapsource and your Units software(web updater). If that doesn't work then it is best to call for support. Garmin Tech - 1-800-800-1020.

Also it is recommended to us Basecamp with this unit. You may want to update your Topo and road maps for better coverage.

Cheers
