I am looking for a GPS to be able to switch between the sled, Harley and Truck. I've benn told about the Oregon 450, Nuvi 500 and 550. I don't want to say price is not an option, but I only want to do this once. Will have to buy the mounts and wiring kits as well. Long battery life is nice, but most of the time it will be plugged in. Must be waterproof and rugged as the sled is a modified snowcross racer... it's going to take some bouncing around!
Any other models that might suit me better are appreciated. Would like to stay with the larger screen (unlike the GPSMAP versions).

Hello,

It is going to depend on the main features and functions you are looking to get from the GPS. If you are looking to take multiple tracks the nuvi 550 is not the unit for you. But if you can do with only 1 track the 550 is a great unit with a nice screen.

Hope this helps!

One of my sledding buddies has the Oregon 450 and loves it. According to him it's the only unit that can do everything well for the outdoors with a touch screen and at low temperatures. He's an absolute animal on his sled btw and has never had any issues with his GPS. He uses the Ram mount which also looks like a great heavy duty product.
