Hi Norma,
The Bushnell BackTracks are designed to lead you back to a desired location. When using it for hiking purposes, you'd probably like to mark your vehicle, or campsite as the location to track back to. The device will allow you to save up to 3 of these locations, and will lead you via the compass back to your destination.
