Text Size Change?

Original question asked on Feb 26, 2011, 2:30am
I looked at a Oregen 450 and GPSMAP 62S today at a store and adjusted the text size. In each case the adjustments did not seem to change the size of the text on the map, like street names and POIs etc. The units did not have maps loaded in them other than the base map. Does a detailed map need to be installed for the text size change to work? My eyes are getting old so I need large text on the screen. Any suggestions?

Are there other GPS units that do allow the map text size to be changed? I do like the Oregon 450 but if I can not read the text it really does not help me much.

Hello Gary,

I apologize I skipped right over the text size feature in the map settings. I found the setting and gave it a try and you do need a detailed map in the unit to see the larger text on the map. The Oregon 450 will show you large text like you want. I apologize once again. When researching I found that the GPSMap 62S and 78S will do large text also.

Cheers
Jordan
